Precursor stoichiometry, solved

StoichioLab

Turn a target composition into a weighing sheet. Give it what you want to make, what you have on the shelf, and how much you need: StoichioLab solves the precursor balance and tells you exactly how many grams of each to weigh out.

What it does

Built for solid-state ceramic synthesis, where the target composition and the precursor chemicals rarely match 1:1.

Mol% or Wt% target input

Enter your target composition as plain stoichiometric coefficients (mol%) or as weight fractions (wt%); StoichioLab converts wt% to mole ratios via molar mass automatically.

DO-NOT-balance rules

Model real decomposition chemistry (carbonate and nitrate groups leaving behind an oxide, atmospheric oxygen equilibration, crystal water in hydrates) without corrupting the precursor's real molar mass.

Doping % reported for free

Every precursor's result row shows its own wt%/mol% share of the mix: a minor precursor added as a dopant reads exactly like a paper's "doped at 0.6 wt%," no separate calculation needed.

Doping-series batch mode

Solve several full compositions in one pass, e.g. different doping levels of the same system, instead of re-entering the target table and hitting Solve one composition at a time.

Literature references

Looks up papers on the same substitution family as your target, e.g. Ba1-xCaxTi1-yZryO3 at any doping level, not just this exact one, via Crossref's free search API.

Save, export & share

Save named recipes or copy a share link that reconstructs your exact setup elsewhere, export results as CSV or print, and every solve stays in your history across browser restarts.

How it works

Three inputs, one solve.

1

Target composition

Type a formula or fill in an element table, in mol% or wt%.

2

Precursors on hand

List the chemical formulas you actually have, molar mass is computed automatically.

3

Solve

Get grams per precursor, a balance-residual check, and doping %, saved to your history.
